Tri Day Pt 3

So we kinda failed in the swim, the target was 1500 meters, I got severe cramp at the 800 meter mark and whilst I could push harder, I was very much on the limit of my exhaustion. I managed to set a good benchmark for my abilities. Now I have a target for next month when I will attempt the same again.

The swim

Tri Day PT2

So previously to this run, I have only ever ran a 6km route before, bit of a jump up to the 9.6 for the Olympic triathlon.

The Run

Tri Day Pt 1

So this was the easy part of the day, being on a track that I know pretty well.

  • 18.4km Distance
  • 373m Elevation
  • 01:08:58 Moving Time
  • 910 Calories

The Shoes

So during the GeoQuest race it was quite apparent that the only real shoes to wear were the Salomon Pro 3D Ultra 2 GTX, these are a bit of a mouth full to say but they are a very nice comfy and supportive set of shoes, they also come in very bright and distinctive colours, so you don't have to go through the mouthful all to often. I have mine in Cosmos blue as you can see in the picture.
These shoes have a gore-tex lining inside and they are super breathable and water proof. They have the obligatory reflective bands on to help keep you safe when your pounding the roads at night.

Whilst being a little bit pricey side boast a very heavy technical arsenal to justify the price tag.

Olympic training

One month after the decision to take part in GeoQuest was made I attempted my first Olympic distance triathlon, this is a 13 mile ride (20.92Kms) I and my training Partner Mr Twin did a total 31 kms, we then went onto 9.6kms run (6 miles), this was followed up by a pool swim, we both only managed 800 meters on the swim not the regulation 1500 meters.
So while the whole event was not a success, I think taking into consideration that I have only been running for about a month and swimming for about two, we should not be too hard on our selves for the effort. We've also agreed to attempt the same again in a months time. So continue with the training and try again next month.
;)

It all started...

So I moved to Australia, left my life in the UK behind, all my friends and family, threw it all away to follow my heart. I worked out the hard way that this was not a very smart thing to do. Everything fell down around my ears and all I could do was stand by and watch it fall, everything I tried to do just made it worse.
I had one release from what my life had become, this was riding mountain bikes. Or one in particular, a stump jumper FSR, after a little bit of riding with one particular friend I was invited to take part in my first 24hr mountain bike race, the Scott 24 hour. This was just the first part of turning my life around, now iver a year later I have taken part in two 24hour races both time finishing in the top 33% of around 600 teams, and I have been in a support crew for an adventure race. This last was one of the best experiences I have been involved in. We (the support crew) decided that nextyear we would take part.
